Yes you can use it in a store only.

Little scenario...

Someone buy a card on your website, when Paypal call back your server with payment successful, the component send the card (or a link) to the recipient and the admin. The person come to your store with the printed card... from now you can use different method to write down the number and tell if the card is use or not. You can use the component admin for that, when the customer use the card, you just unpublish the card in the admin. Each card have a unique number and bar code.

I can say most of my customers use it in store without a online shopping card
